Samahan ng mga Katutubong Tagbanuang Tandulanen sa Binga (SAKATTABI)
As the name implies, the Samahan ng mga Katutubong Tagbanuang Tandulanen sa Binga (SAKATTABI) or Organization of the Indigenous Peoples of Tagbanua Tandulanen in Binga is composed of members of Tagbanua indigenous peoples who are living in the coastal areas or “tandol” in the local language. They reside in Barangay Binga, Municipality of San Vicente, Palawan and compose about 31% of the total population of the area.
SAKATTABI was organized in the 1990’s and re-organized in 2018 and belong to the federated Nagkakaisang Tribo ng Palawan of NATRIPAL which is composed of more than 60 organization of the 3 indigenous groups (Tagbanua, Pala’wan and Batak).
The organization aims to:
- Strengthen unity , broaden knowledge and increase capacity of all members for improved livelihood and well being;
- Protect, promote and assert indigenous peoples’ rights as part of society and be benefited from government programs and social services; and
- Sustain traditions and culture of indigenous peoples’ within the area
