The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IIFBES) established a network of indigenous and local knowledge Centres of Distinction composed of organizations that have had a long history of engaging within the Unite Nations system to deliver policy recommendations, implement projects and provide assessments, such as for biodiversity indicators and community-based monitoring systems during the fourth session of the plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiveristy and Ecosystem Services (IPBES 4) held from 22 to 28 Februar 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
