Resumed Session

The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) emphasized that all goals, targets, and indicators of the Post-2020 global biodiversity framework must uphold the minimum standards as agreed in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The IIFB also calls for enhancing the relational values between peoples and nature and that the implementation of the framework be guided by the human rights-based approach and ensure the protection of defenders of environmental rights and indigenous peoples rights during the resumed sessions of SBSTTA 24, SBI 3 and WG2020-3 held from 13 to 29 March 2022 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Formal Virtual Meetings

The International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) raised concern about the difficulty of the virtual process for indigenous peoples and local communities, including women and youth because of connectivity issues, time zone challenges, and the requirement for party support for IPLC proposals to be reflected in the text during the formal virtual session of the twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 24) held from 3 May to 9 June 2021.
